Inclusion Training

Interested in helping your organization do a better job of including people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities? We can help.

Over the years Wilderness Inquiry has developed a thorough body of knowledge on how to include everyone--from the philosophy of inclusion to the nuts and bolts of gear adaptations. These concepts include:

Integrated Group  Accessibility Training

  • Inclusive leadership techniques
  • Universal program design
  • Equipment adaptations
  • Functional abilities
  • Essential eligibility assessments
  • Marketing, liability, and other business issues

We can facilitate hands-on educational workshops with youth and youth program leaders in any organization. We provide this training as requested by schools, corporations, and other service organizations. For more information, contact Greta Arnquist at (612) 676-9424 or gretaarnquist@wildernessinquiry.org

Training Participant Feedback

We consistently receive positive feedback from participants in our training workshops. Here are some examples of participant responses:

“I liked the emphasis on attitude, communication and inclusion rather than on disability.”
-Girl Scout Program Aide, 17 years old

“WI staff did a great job creating situations in which worldview could be changed. Also addressed all learning styles. This training got me thinking about my “cultural assumptions” and helped me formulate appropriate questions. Very helpful!”
-Three Rivers Park District Program Staff Manager

“The presentations were great and the participants were involved. The guest trainers were interesting and well received by the participants.”
-Land-use Planner/Property Consultant, Girl Scouts of the USA

"I want to share my gratitude for a sensational WI training weekend of fun and work. I felt a keen sense of inclusion and emotional safety the whole while, an experience which is rare to come by for many of us— it’s the gift that keeps hope alive and spreading spontaneously. If social integration is the process of Wilderness Inquiry, to invite EVERYONE into the effort to transform the way we live on the planet, then that ideal is powerfully modeled by Greg, Sarah and Greta. I don’t know a better word that stands for bringing all people into the tribe than inclusiveness and isn’t that a powerful idea? They make it real." -Margaret L., WI Volunteer
