WI Ambassadors

One of Wilderness Inquiry's great strengths is its mission of promoting healthy lifestyles, facilitating community integration, and building awareness of the natural environment. Another great strength of Wilderness Inquiry (WI) is the people--including you! WI does not have a big marketing or advertising budget--our best marketing tool is word of mouth.

The WI Ambassadors initiative is simply our process for helping you spread the word about WI to your friends, family, neighbors and associates. Our goal is get as many people as possible talking about WI to encourage them to do one or more of the following:

  1. Go on trips
  2. Encourage others to go on trips
  3. Volunteer
  4. Make connections
  5. Become a financial supporter

What do you need to do to become a WI Ambassador?

  1. Send WI a list of people you are willing to contact on behalf of WI--use the attached form or anything that works for you. Think expansively about the people you know who might be interested in WI, including:

    • Extended Family
    • Neighbors
    • People you work with
    • People with disabilities
    • Your doctor or clinic
    • Childhood friends
    • Your children's friends
    • Your barber or hair dresser
    • People you've traveled with
    • Little league
    • Church
    • Your school/children's school
    • Dentist
    • Chiropractor
    • Bowling league

  2. Work with appropriate WI staff to develop and deliver the message you want. WI can merge lists and print any letter on any letterhead, or work with you to print them on your own. Ideally, you would always sign these letters and personalize them with a handwritten note.

What WI will do

  1. Our objective is to build long-term relationships with our supporters in a way that honors you and Wilderness Inquiry. Our pledge is to make it easy for you. We will work hard to ensure that your effort to spread the word is a positive thing for you and your friends.
  2. Ensure that no person whose name you give us is contacted by WI without your permission.
  3. Contact you twice per year to ask for your help in signing letters to people on your list.
    • in the Spring we would like to send a letter asking people to consider taking a trip.
    • in the Fall we would like to send a letter asking people to consider making a contribution to our annual fund.
    • We will also send volunteer or other program information as you direct
  4. WI staff will keep you informed of results in a timely manner.
